Unlocking the language labyrinth a 5 question likelihood quest

You can do this test before using the book to help you choose what to
study. Choose the correct answer, A, B or C, for each question. When
you have finished, check your answers by clicking "Check Answers"
button. The key tells you which units are most important for you.

1. If it rains tomorrow, ____ we'll stay home.

The word 'then' is often used to introduce the consequence in a conditional sentence. It shows a clear cause-and-effect relationship.

2. Which sentence correctly expresses a high likelihood?

'Will probably' expresses a strong likelihood of the outcome. Other options express possibilities, but not as strong a likelihood.

3. Provided that you complete the assignment on time, ____ you will receive extra credit.

'Then' clearly links the condition ('Provided that...') to the consequence. 'Therefore' and 'however' do not fit the conditional structure.

4. Which sentence best expresses a low likelihood?

'Might' expresses uncertainty and a lower likelihood compared to the other options.

5. In the event of a fire, ____ immediately evacuate the building.

'You should' expresses a strong recommendation or obligation, appropriate for the serious nature of the condition.
